Hatoum for the illy Art Collection Cups used an abstract design of the lattice pattern of the Arabic headscarf and olive leaves, which have historically been associated with labor struggles and the gathering of people, giving a new dimension to a 100% Arabica cup of coffee.
Mona Hatoum was born in Beirut from a Palestinian family in 1952. She lives in London and Berlin. Hatoum challenges the movements of surrealism and minimalism, creating work that explores the conflicts and contradictions of our world.
